This bag has personality! Teal, lime, gold, olive, red accent on one side, orange accent on the other. Handles are wet from teal merino wool and then tied with a favorite lime art yarn.
Layers upon layers of fabulous fibers are wet felted using a resist (outline of the bag) that results in a seamless bag! (see description under the Handbag Collection for more detail)
Merino wool roving/sliver is drafted into a fine base layer, next is blended viscose in teals, olive, copper, and golds; a fun art yarn meanders all around, then complimentary colors of flax and bamboo along with silk throwsters in orange and red. Yes, there are also dyed wool locks as side accents!
Wet felting this piece takes patience, technically only the wool actually felts; however, all of the other fibers are secured by the migrating wool. It's amazing!
Embellishments took on a life of their own...I intended to add a few embroidery stitches here and there but kept going. Copper stitching throughout, bottom corners has a folk art teal embroidery accent. That still wasn't enough, the fav lime art yarn used as accent on the handles was laid randomly across both sides and hand stitched into place.
The inside is a lime textured fabric lined with quilt backing includes a pocket. Machine embroidered design was added for form and function. Finally, a magnetic clasp to secure the bag closed.
